Harriet, Jo and Solenne are inspired by nature, their use of natural colours and materials makes their pieces immediately familiar, belying the originality of their designs. They develop new techniques with master craftspeople, using their skills in original ways: a cricket bat maker carves their Drifter Pendant and a saddle maker finishes the Caribou Chairs.
OCHRE's designs highlight materials' natural properties. The reflections in the glass pebble of the Gaia Pendant encapsulate an entire room. LEDs highlight the clarity and curves of the glass, and the solid steel counterbalance tells us how much the glass must weigh. The arc is natural, formed only by the weight at either end.
OCHRE's pieces often have many different elements, and time and attention are paid to each. A light may go from wood worker to glass blower to bronze caster to electrician. OCHRE's signature is the seemingly effortless result.
